Texas, 2015
We all have seen the terrifying news coverage displaying the harrowing scenes of destruction in Texas after the most recent floods. The floods there have to this day not yet receded, and may not for several weeks. Some parts of the Lone Star State have seen more than 20 inches of rain, shattering records throughout the state.
Our neighbors to the North, in Oklahoma, have not been spared the brunt of the severe rain, also sharing the flooding that has inundated so many Southern towns and homes. And yet, more rain is expected in the region for the remainder of this week.
Many lives have been unfortunately taken by this flooding in Texas, Oklahoma, and Mexico. A casket was even found in the middle of a road, carried away by the flood waters. There were reported mudslides in the Texas panhandle, as well as a near dam break near Huston.
Texas and Oklahoma are on their knees facing this most recent disaster. We urge all Southerners to stand by their sister states to the West, and support them in any way you can.
